Overview
The Challenge
AI voice interfaces suffer from a major UX bottleneck: latency. Standard static loading indicators or abstract gradients fail to keep users engaged during voice processing delays, causing friction and uncertainty.
The Solution
I resurrected Microsoft's classic "Clippy" as a real-time, character-driven AI companion built in Rive. To mask latency, I designed a responsive State Machine with three interruption-safe blend states that visually validate voice input, mask server processing delays, and provide instant visual feedback. By mapping real-time telemetry directly to the skeletal hierarchy, the lightweight runtime asset turns a frustrating delay into an engaging, tactile user connection.
